What to bring

  • Easy Ups and lawn chairs
  • Bathing suits, towels and sunscreen
  • Water bottles, drinks, snacks
  • Food for lunch – please coordinate with your den regarding lunch
  • Pinewood demolition car – see attached regarding rules / guidelines
  • A willingness to pitch in! Please remember the clubhouse, water slides, and derby track are all either rented or borrowed. It’s up to everyone to make sure the scouts are having a great time while being respectful of other’s property. Be available to lend a hand at the end of the day.

Our last two Water Day events have been lots of fun. I can’t wait to see the designs of the Demolition cars!

I’ll see you there!

Our first demolition derby

Get ready of the packs first, yes I said first demolition derby.  It is going to be fun for everyone.  Here are some guidelines to help with the race on July 25th during the waterday events.

Each scout is responsible for providing his own car, whether it is a used pinewood derby car or a brand new kit.  Kits are available at the Scout Shop.

Here are the rules for building your cars:

  1. The car should not be wider than the normal pinewood derby car width (wheels + body)
  2. No knife blades or razor blades on the vehicles.
  3. There are no other rules:  There is no weight limit.  You can have moving parts.  You can have more than 4 wheels.  You can have nail axles provided in the official kit or solid axles as sold at the hobby shops.  You can have spikes (nails or screws).  The limit is your imagination.

It's going to be a blast....

**The scouts should be working on their demolition derby cars now.

Ready, set, go....

Dropping off

First thing is get with your den because carpooling is highly recommened.  If you can't find someone to carpool with or you are planning on dropping off and pickup yourself here is the procedure.

Parents dropiing off should try to arrive no later than 5 minutes before camp starts.  Each pack has an assigned drop-of area starting across camp sites 1-4.  Leaders will escort the scouts ot the "sport field" for the opening. Leaders with siblings should take them to an assembly area next to the drop-off area.

What if we are late or need to pick up the scout early?

If your scout is late or you need to get him early you must go to the scout headquarters building.

Picking up your scout

Parents can pickup their scout at 2:30pm in the pack assembly area by authorized persons only.  A leader must know that the scout is leaving.

If you have any further question please email daycamp@mypack1550.org

HAM Radio Field Day

Have you ever wanted to see what goes in to amatuer radio?

Check this out and get a good introduction to how it works and the ways is it used.

Field Day for Amateur Radio is going to be held at Roy Campbell Burrough Park 9738 Huffsmith Road - June 27th - June 28th. During the event they will have a GOTR (Get on the Radio) station, cool.

If you want more information about this event you can contact Linda McCree at mccree39@yahoo.com, she got her license last yea and her son made a contact at this event last year.

CSI - Cub Scout Investigators - Polaris District DayCamp

I know where I'll be June 23-26....Cub World at Camp Strake! Are you going to daycamp? There's no excuse to miss it! For the second year in a row any scout who sells 20 Scout Fair tickets will have the cost of camp covered by the Pack. This is the last year we'll be going to camp as the Polaris district and the directors are working hard to make this last year the best year ever! With CSI as a theme, science, forensics, BB guns, Archery and an alligator, who could go wrong??

If you want to go, let your den leader know as soon as possible because time is running out for early registration. Also, the registration process has changed, so we need to give our den leaders a little time to figure them out!  There will be two other registration dates, but the cost of registration increases with each one.

If you have any questions please contact Kat Amundsen kat@barefootgiggles.com  or Anna Foreman cookwithanna@hotmail.com

As with most Cub Scout activities, this camp is run exclusively by volunteer manpower. This means we need YOU! Please consider this when you think of what you want to do this summer. I promise, volunteering as Adult Staff or joining your den as an "Adult Walker" is a real memory maker!
