The Scout Scoop
Getting ready for the upcoming scout year

Our boys have worked hard this past year and it is time to make sure their uniforms are in check and up-to-date. I, like many other parents, have problems remembering where to put patches on the uniform. So I would like to share with you a couple of common uniform patches.

Common patch placement

  1. Outdoor activity patch - Right pocket flap. The same pocket the achievement beads hang from.
  2. Arrow points (for Bears and Wolves) - Under the left pocket. Start with gold arrow just under the rank they belong to followed by a double row of the silver arrow points.
  3. Service star - Just above the left pocket centered.

I will be posting the full inspection sheet later.

Pack 1550 preforms flag ceremony for Oakwood Glen

July 4th Den 16 performed a flag retirement ceremony  and Den 1, 10, 11, 15, and 16 preformed an opening flag ceremony for Oakwood Glen.  The Parade started with the Pack opening the Parade with the ceremony planned by Den 16 and finishing up at the front park.

* Everyone that particpated is earning Community Service hours.

I talked with serveral people of the nieghborhood that really were thankful that the pack is contributing back to the community.  Go Cub Scout Pack 1550.

Daycamp requirments and helpful hints

Things to should know about camp:

  1. Every den or families may have there own carpooling plans so check with your den and other families to car pool.
  2. Here are things the scouts should bring:
  • Camp T-shirt – We will get the shirt to you on Monday, June 23; the t-shirt must be worn every day – it is worn for safety reasons: leaders can quickly identify anyone who should not be at the camp by a lack of the correct t-shirt
  • Camp water cup – We will get the cup to you at the same time as the t-shirt. There will be water at each activity station for the scouts to drink
  • 5-gallon bucket with lid – these are used to sit on and to carry the scout’s crafts and lunch – available at Home Depot for about $5 – be sure to get a lid
  • Bandana – Pack 1550 will provide a bandana to you
  • Closed-toe shoes – no Crocs; no sandals; wear your tennis shoes
  • Hat [Optional]
  • Rain Poncho[Optional]
  • Sack Lunch labeled with your name – The food you bring MUST BE NON-PERISHABLE; no mayonnaise, lunch meat, or anything that must be kept cool or refrigerated; bring peanut butter sandwiches or the packaged tuna lunch kits. It is recommended that you put it in a gallon sized freezer bag.
  • Non-carbonated drink for Lunch– you can freeze a Juice pouch (like Capri Sun) and put it in your supper bag
  • Sunscreen and bug spray
  • Money for trading post [Optional] – no more than $5 for the entire duration of camp
  • NO knives, axes, toys, or electronics of any kind
  • A box of snacks to share with the den
  • A good attitude, ready for fun and adventure
Arrive at camp 15 minutes prior to the start time.
See you there.
